Psalm 78:4,7

“We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done...That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.”

ACTIVE

To provide helpful guidance and instruction to high school- aged students, our ACTIVE (Apostolic Christian Training In Values Education) group meets twice a month at the Washington Park District Building. Each event features a speaker that discusses topics relevant to high schoolers, and then everyone enjoys a snack and fellowship to close the evening.

ACTIVE seeks to build on four areas in which to help strengthen our students’ relationships.

1. RELATIONSHIP with God

We want our children to know God loves them. He really loves them and cares about every part of their lives! By hearing how God is always true and faithful in the lives of the believers they go to church with they can see how much God cares for His children and how he always loves them.

“I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3

“He will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

2. RELATIONSHIP with Members of our Congregation

We want our children to know that the people in our church love and care for them too! We want to strengthen the relationship between young and old. The people they go to church with and don’t really know that well have an amazing story of God’s grace and love to share!

“We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done...That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments.” Psalm 78:4,7

3. RELATIONSHIP with Each Other

The more time spent together, the more experiences shared, and the more memories made together, the more our children will get to know and value each other and strengthen the bonds of friendship.

“A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

4. RELATIONSHIP with our Church

We have a wonderful, God-given spiritual heritage that is rare to find today and we want to pass that on to our children. We want them to see that our church is relevant to their lives today and we want them to have a deeper respect, love and desire to be a part of our Apostolic Christian Church.

“Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” Psalm 119:111

“Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.” Psalm 61:5
